Hangleton Library Gets Medieval!

Brighton & Hove Libraries took part in the eighth annual Medieval Festival, which was recently held in Greenleas Park, Hangleton.

Saturday 11 June 2011 saw the official launch of the festival with lots of interesting activities, medieval re-enactments and stalls. The Brighton & Hove Library stall promoted our services and featured reproductions of medieval prints from the Jubilee Library Rare Books and Special Collections.

The festival inspired staff at Hangleton Library to organise a fun filled medieval themed children’s activity in the library, which gave participants the opportunity to make fantastical and intricate wooden spoon dragon and knight puppets. Younger children tested their skills by colouring in medieval themed paper finger puppets, castles, horses and knights.

The event was fully booked and was enjoyed by both parents and children of all ages.  Some regular customers to the library commented, “It is really nice to see so many children together enjoying themselves in the library, it is lovely”.
