Summer of Circus!

Our ‘Summer of Circus’ events to celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge are in full swing! Many a budding circus performer joined us to show off their circus talents with the guidance of Juggletastic our visiting circus skills experts. At Portslade library we were shown the playfulness of the devil sticks and at Jubilee square and Hove library a number of brave people (including a few library officers!) dared to cross the tightrope.

We were blessed with sunshine at our Jubilee Square event on Saturday. A number of individuals displayed some impressive Diablo tricks. From juggling to hula hooping a great deal of fun was had by all. For those crafty kids there was the opportunity to make your very own flying acrobat or top hat. With over 300 people joining us at Jubilee square it was certainly a hit!

But worry not if you missed out. To celebrate the opening of the new Whitehawk library we will be joined by Juggletastic for the last time to bring you a FREE circus skills workshop on Saturday 3rd September. Drop in between 10.00-11.30am for a final ‘Summer of Circus’ event in our lovely new library.

Juggletastic at Portslade Library

More Juggletastic fun at Portslade Library!  Both parents and children enjoyed learning how to use the circus equipment juggling, plate spinning, making top hats and even walking on stilts! Jez, one of the Juggletastic team remarked that the crafts were a particularly good idea as one little boy in particular who had struggled a little with the circus equipment loved making a top hat and it made sure the event was inclusive for all ages and abilities.
