National Libraries Day 2012

This year the first ever National Libraries Day will take place on Saturday 4 February 2012. Brighton & Hove City Libraries Services are looking forward to joining in the celebrations with a series of events to mark National Libraries Day.

Jubilee Library will host a tour of the Rare Books and Special Collections and a family event inviting children to tell us what they love about their library. Hove Library will be showcasing local talent and is welcoming 9 local authors to read from their new and published works. Several of the community libraries will be inviting customers to discover what their library can offer them over a cup of coffee.

There are lots of reasons to come and celebrate National Libraries Day with great free services on offer at libraries across the City every week such the award winning Council Connect, Homework Club, Read Aloud groups and Baby Boogie to name a few. There really is something for everyone and we would like to encourage people across the City to visit any one of the libraries to try something new. Did you know that an eBooks service has recently been launched which is free to all library members for example?

Visit any library on National Library Day and borrow any item of stock to be eligible to enter a draw for a selection of prizes. If you are yet to join then become a library member on Saturday 4 February and you could win a free audio-visual subscription too.

Find out more about what your local library has to offer as part of this national event devoted to all libraries.
