October 10th is World Mental Health Day. First celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation of Mental Health this is a day for global mental health education, advocacy and awareness. http://www.wfmh.org/00WorldMentalHealthDay.htm
There will be a local author event at Jubilee Library with Mark A Radcliffe from 5.30 – 6.45pm on October 10th.
Mark will be reading excerpts from his new book Stranger than Kindness.
Mark is a former mental health nurse and now a lecturer at Brighton University.
Brighton and Hove Libraries hold a wide range of books on health under the title of Reading Well Books On Prescription or BOP, these collections are held at Jubilee, Hove, Whitehawk, Porstslade, Patcham and Saltdean Libraries and are proving to be very popular, since the re-launch in June we have on average, issued over 200 BOP books a month, many of which are also available to download as e-books.
