David Byrne, the frontman of the band Talking Heads is bringing his own Library to the Meltdown festival this August in London, Byrne is the curator of the festival this year and is shipping his Library of 250 books to the UK, they will be available to borrow and take home, just like a normal Library book. Many titles are about music in other cultures, there are also biographies and books about recording technology, many have notes written in the margins.
Byrne recently said in a piece he wrote for the Guardian “I love a library. The idea of reading books for free didn’t kill the publishing business, on the contrary, it created nations of literate and passionate readers”.
The Meltdown festival starts on 17th August at the Southbank Centre, London SE1.
